CONFERENCE ON GNOMONIOPSIS CASTANEAE
On 9th February 2024 Eurocastanea organised a successful online conference on the fungus Gnomoniopsis castaneae (smithogilvyi), which causes chestnut rot. It was an overview about this chestnut pathogen, its influencing factors and the means of control.

The WHITE PAPER 2020 is an updated collection of chestnut production figures in Europe and around the world. It also highlights trade figures (imports and exports).
The White Paper is the demonstration of the involvement of the 6 member countries of Eurocastanea (France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Portugal and Greece) in the revalorization of the chestnut and its production.

The European Chestnut Network continues to widen its international collaborations
December 2020. As part of the Vinitech-Sifel Virtual exhibition, EUROCASTANEA the European chestnut network co-organized a live round table on December 3, inviting chestnut-producing countries from various areas in the world. In this roundtable, representatives from China, Japan and Australia were live to testify on the chestnut industry in their country, the United States and Chile had transmitted pre-recorded video testimonies. Mission accomplished successfully for the first webinar of the Eurocastanea network
Early October 2020, the European Chestnut Network organised its first ever webinar on the current harvest, market prospects in Europe, and the impact of the health crisis.
On October 7, Eurocastanea, the European chestnut network brought online nearly 70 operators from the chestnut sectors: producers, APOs and marketers from 8 countries. Participants from Austria, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Morocco and Chile connected to follow this mini conference on this season’s chestnut production and the impact of the covid-19 on consumption. Three main themes emerged : tree’s health, new plantations and the 2020 production figures.

2019- The European chestnut sector defends its economic, social and environmental assets to the European Parliament

Thirty representatives from EUROCASTANEA, presented the many assets of the European Chestnut Network to the European Parliament on 4th December 2019.
The participants and speakers who came from France, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Austria had one hour and a half to expose the strenghts and the needs of European chestnut produers to twelve members of the Parliament

The European Chestnut meeting, a yearly event
The Eurocastanea meetings are organised each year since 2010 by AREFLH (Assembly of the European Regions producing Fruit, Vegetables and Ornamental plant), with the help of local chestnut organisations that vary depending on the country where the event is taking place.
The two main missions of the association AREFLH are to defend the fruit and vegetable sector and to bring together its actors for exchanging information/experiences and creating of partnerships.

Every year, the organisation of the congress request the collaboration of the EUROCASTANEA Commission, made of the national or regional producer organisations from Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and Austria :
